When do I intervene?
My first priority is safety for the mother and second priority is safety for the baby. The safest approach to birthing based on medical evidence determines when I recommend an intervention like a c-section, but the decision is worked out with the mother.
What is my approach to pain management?
If a patient wants a natural childbirth without pain medication, that’s fine. Pain medication is always available and epidural pain medications are especially helpful.
How do my patients describe me?
Hopefully as caring, compassionate, and competent.
Why do I practice obstetrics?
Delivering a baby is a happy event, a highlight in people’s lives, and it’s a privilege to be part of it.
