
The maternity program at Red Cedar Medical Center of Menomonie offers families and expecting moms a variety of classes to prepare them for the arrival of a new baby. All classes meet in the Education Center at Red Cedar Medical Center.

Infant feeding education and support
Infant feeding classes and support groups are led by Certified Lactation Counselors who are nurses at Family Birth Suites. Babies and support persons are welcomed and encouraged. The class includes information about the following:

Childbirth preparation class
This five-week, three-week or one-day series is for first time parents for those parents whose last delivery was more than five years ago or for those who are planning a vaginal birth after a cesarean. We encourage pregnant women to come to class with a support person(s). Please bring a blanket and at least two pillows for your comfort during relaxation and breathing sessions.The class covers the following topics:

Infant massage class
Touch matters so much, even when your baby is only weeks old. Instructors teach a class for parents, caregivers and their babies ages three weeks to crawling. Participants learn the methods of interactive massage. The following are immediate benefits of infant massage:

Sibling class
This class helps prepare siblings for the arrival of a new baby and the changes that may occur within the family. The class will includes fun activities and a birthday party. Children under three years old must be accompanied by an adult. All parents are welcome to attend. Please bring a doll or a stuffed animal to the sibling class.
