FAQs

Below is a list of questions we’re frequently asked about Family Birth Suites. If we still haven’t answered all of your questions, please contact us.  We’d be happy to tell you more about Family Birth Suites at Red Cedar Medical Center of Menomonie.

Where do I enter/park when I'm in labor?

Before 8:30 p.m., you can park outside of the Family Birth Suites entrance and enter there.  After that 8:30 p.m., you must enter through Emergency Department, so please park in front of the hospital.

Where do my visitors enter/park?
Visitors are welcome to park outside of the Family Birth Suites entrance and enter there.  The Family Birth Suites entrance is locked at 8:30 p.m.

What are your visiting hours?
For the sake of patients and babies (bonding, eating, sleeping), we limit visitation to afternoons and early evening.

How many people can I have in the delivery room with me?
One to two works best.  If you'd like more, check with your physician.

Can I have visitors stay over night with me?
There is one bed available in each room for a support person to stay with mom.

Can I have my other children stay over night with me?
It is probably best for everyone - mom and other patients - if children stay at home or with a care taker during mom's stay.  Of course, children are more than welcome during visiting hours.

How do you order meals?
We have a room service program.  You choose your meals from a restaurant-like menu.  Meals are delivered to your room at the time you choose.

Is food available at night?
Snacks such as fruit, cereal, snack bars, juice and soda, is available for mom and her immediate family during the evening and night.  Visitors are welcome to bring snack in to the facility.

Can guests order meals?
Guests may purchase meals off of the room service menus for $5 per meal.  They may also visit the Crossroads Cafe or Red Cedar Express Deli during their regular operating hours.

Where are family members allowed to smoke?
Red Cedar Medical Center, like most health care facilities, is smoke free.  This includes both inside and on hospital grounds.  Menomonie's city ordinance also prohibits smoking.

What kind of photographs can I take during my stay?
Photographs and video of yourself and your family is generally fine.  However, each physician may feel differently about this.  Any photos of the delivery must be ok with mom.  Photos and video cannot include staff unless permission is given.  Photos and video must in no way interfere with care.  Video or photography during resuscitation of your baby is prohibited.  Video during cesarean sections is prohibited.
