When do I intervene?
Pregnancy, labor and delivery are all wonderful, natural processes. My job is to watch for problems and treat them appropriately, so that mom and baby remain safe. If all is well, I prefer to allow the birth process to happen naturally and with very little intervention.
What is my approach to pain management?
Pain relief is a very important topic that I enjoy discussing with patients during their prenatal care. I listen to the concerns and wishes a patient may have, then together we develop an appropriate plan for pain management during labor. I support the use of pain medication, but for all patients I also encourage the use of techniques such as music and visualization, to make the labor process more comfortable.
How do my patients describe me?
A person who listens and cares deeply about other people. A physician who enjoys long term relationships with patients and offers choices for treatment, whenever possible.
Why do I practice obstetrics?
I cannot imagine a more fulfilling career than caring for the needs of women and their unborn children.
